I like to sleep

Norway

Amund Storløkken Åse - vibraphone
Nicolas Leirtrø - baritone guitar/bass
Øyvind Leite - drums

The next generation doesn’t sleep. Vibraphonist Amund Storløkken Åse, son of Norwegian vocalist Tone Åse and her keyboard-playing husband Ståle Storløkken, has been stirring up more than just the jazz world for ten years with his Trondheim friends Nicolas Leirtrø on baritone guitar and bass and drummer Øyvind Leite, primarily live but also on four albums to date. Their love for the instrumental language of free jazz and the proggy jazz-rock of the 1970s transforms the music of "I Like to Sleep" into a dreamily languid, doomy "power jazz to the people," a kind of Khruangbin for avant-garde metalheads. Just try to take the band's name literally when the beat is pounding, the bass thumping, and the vibraphone flies overhead in such a seriously spooky way.
