Live Presentation with Petra and Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner
It all began in 1995 with stormy weather, endless rain and a strong desire to get back home as quickly as possible. Instead, it grew into a lifelong passion. Today, three decades and countless journeys later, renowned travel journalists Petra and Gerhard Zwerger-Schoner look back on a connection with Norway that goes far beyond the usual postcard images.
For their new live show, the filmmakers immersed themselves in the country once again, spending six months exploring Norway in depth. The result is a portrayal of Norway of almost surreal, epic intensity – a combination of technical perfection and disarming honesty. While their footage unfolds with breathtaking visual beauty, the duo remain refreshingly down-to-earth on stage. They do not hide moments of personal failure, nor the fact that there is often a world of difference between picture-perfect images and reality on location – whether it is months of living far beyond their comfort zone or discovering the truth behind the perfect “Instagram hotspot”.
They also offer intimate portraits of the people who shape the face of the country: Johan Helberg, who one morning found a 30,000-ton container ship in his front yard and took it all in his stride. Reidun and Svend Otto, whose “Pick-up Café” is about much more than American classic cars, reflecting an inspiring philosophy of life. Or Kjell Norman, who rescued an old wooden house from demolition and turned it into his personal refuge in the Lofoten Islands.
Norway has changed over these three decades, and Petra & Gerhard have grown alongside the country. Their presentation invites you to dream, but also to reflect – on the value of nature, the longing for open spaces, and the increasingly rare luxury of simply being “there”.
