Saalfelden Leogang kicks off the 2026 bike season

185 days of bike action with the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, 25 years of Epic Bikepark Leogang and the new Tour de Champions

Summer is just around the corner: On 8 May 2026, Saalfelden Leogang and the Epic Bikepark Leogang officially launch the new bike season. Over the course of 185 days, until 8 November 2026, mountain bike enthusiasts can look forward to a diverse offering of bike park lines and trails, natural singletracks, international top events and community activations celebrating the 25thanniversary of the bike park. This once again makes the bike season in Saalfelden Leogang longer than the off-season.

Season start and trail highlights
With its 15 lines and trails in the Epic Bikepark Leogang, as well as six hand-shaped natural singletracks, the Pinzgau bike hotspot once again offers highlights for all skill levels in the 2026 season. While most lines and trails open with the official season kick-off on 8 May, the Schwarzleo Trail and Knappen Trail have already been open since Easter, providing early spring riding opportunities outside the bike park.

For the first time, the trails completed during the past season will be available for an entire duration of a season. These include the flowy T-LINE by GoPro with playful jumps and berms, the beginner-friendly GATEWAY with gentle turns and wooden features, the natural singletrack BACK TO THE ROOTS with technical root sections, and the challenging black line HANGOVER.

New this season is the Tour de Champions, introduced across Austria’s largest bike region Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Designed for both ambitious marathon riders and e-mountain bikers, the route connects nine iconic competition venues, including Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm, the Hochfilzen Biathlon Stadium and the World Championship tracks in the Epic Bikepark Leogang. The route can be completed as a demanding day ride or as a multi-day experience, combining physical challenge with fascinating insights into the history of the sport.

International top events and community highlights
Saalfelden Leogang will once again be at the heart of the international mountain bike scene in 2026. From 11 to 14 June, the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series returns, bringing the world’s best athletes in downhill, cross-country and enduro to compete on technically demanding tracks, while spectators can experience world-class racing up close.

In July 2026, the community celebrates a special milestone: the 25thanniversary of Epic Bikepark Leogang. During the (Leo)Gang Days from 24 to 26 July, visitors can take part in three days of group rides, workshops and side events centered around the bike community.

A key highlight of the celebrations is the interactive season-long giveaway in the bike park: a photo box automatically captures action shots as riders pass by, with images available for sharing on social media to enter the competition. At the end of the season, two grand prize packages will be raffled – one for women and one for men – each including a Scott Gambler bike in a special “Bikepark Leogang” anniversary edition.

The season concludes with the bike festival Saalfelden Leogang from 2 to 4 October, where participants can test the latest bike models, join workshops and ride together with professionals. At the same time, the event hosts the final of the auner Austrian Gravity Series, offering a thrilling end to the season for junior and amateur downhill riders.

Female empowerment and Ladies Shred
Promoting women in mountain biking remains a key focus in 2026. With its Ladies Shred program, the Epic Bikepark Leogang offers dedicated camps, workshops and ride-outs for women throughout the season. These formats are designed to build riding skills, confidence and community – from first trail experiences to advanced bike park lines.

International recognition for sustainable tourism
Alongside top-level sports performance, Saalfelden Leogang continues to set benchmarks in sustainability. In
2025, the region received the prestigious “UN Tourism & FIA Award for Excellence in Sustainable Sports Tourism” in the category “Innovation in Sports Tourism Development,” standing out among international projects from Europe, Asia and Latin America.
