BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang: Everything to do with bikes

The renowned BIKE Festival, known for its venues in Riva del Garda (ITA) and Willingen (GER), will be setting up camp in the Saalfelden Leogang region for the first time from Friday, 31 August, thus celebrating its premiere on Austrian soil.

A glance at the timetable promises: the bike spectacle will live up to its name. In addition to the large exhibitor area, the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang offers no less than five exciting competitions in the wide range of mountain bike disciplines.

At the first edition of the BIKE Festival in Saalfelden Leogang, no less than five competitions in a wide range of bike disciplines will take place next weekend: The GHOST RECON RIDE will kick things off on Friday, where various landmarks and action points have to be mastered in the Bikepark Leogang. Then it's time to get pumping when the final of the Austrian Pumptrack Series takes to the course. The enduro riders will also crown the best rider in the SCOTT Enduro Series at the end of the season. Five stages have to be mastered on the track between Leogang, Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Former German champion Christian Textor is the big favourite for overall victory. The SCOTT Junior Trophy in Leogang also offers the youngest riders the opportunity to get a taste of racing for the first time.

At the third stage of the Rocky Mountain Marathon series, the overall winners will be crowned on Sunday in Saalfelden Leogang. Marathon participants can choose between three distances. The supreme discipline awaits with 3600 vertical metres spread over 97 kilometres from Leogang via Saalfelden, Maria Alm and back - numerous climbs and descents via Biberg, Asitz and Co. included, of course. Participants from 11 nations, including the Swiss marathon champion and series leader Konny Looser, as well as some local pros, such as Styrian Wolfgang Krenn, who recently secured ÖM silver in the Ultra Cycling 4-man team as part of the Race Around Austria, will tackle the premiere of the marathon.

The supporting programme of the festival premiere is also varied: 80 exhibitors will present the highlights of 2018 at a large outdoor trade fair directly at the Asitz Bergbahn car park from Friday to Sunday. Many brands will also raise the curtain on the 2019 trends. The BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang expo is therefore the best opportunity to take a close look at bikes and accessories and test the models on display on specially designated routes. "It will be a festival for the whole family, where every biker, from e-bikers to trail specialists, will get their money's worth," says Saalfelden Leogang Touristik Managing Director Marco Pointner.
