The best of 2018 – Expansion of Bikepark Leogang 2019

What a Summer! The 2018 season in Saalfelden Leogang saw great weather, long sunny days, event highlights with thousands of spectators and of course tons of bike action on the trails of Bikepark Leogang and the surrounding area. Those, who are already affected by the offseason blues, can revel in memories with the best images of the past season and get stoked for next year because Bikepark Leogang is being expanded!

The past season saw the addition of another event highlight, the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang, to the already stacked event line-up that included the Out of Bounds Festival including the Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup with over 23,000 spectators in June, the Opening Weekend in May, the Fan Weekend in October and the Closing Weekend in November. As part of the new BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang over 80 exhibitors from the mountain bike and e-mountain bike industries showcased the newest trends and products of the 2019 season and gave visitors the chance to test next year’s products on the trails of Bikepark Leogang and the surrounding region. Additionally, over 500 athletes participated in the various races held during the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang, making the new event an instant success.

Be it Downhill-, Enduro-, Marathon-, Pumptrack- or children’s races, the trails of Saalfelden Leogang saw no shortage of race action and festival vibes this summer and that won’t change in 2019. The Out of Bounds Festival including the Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup will return from June 7-9, 2019, while the second edition of the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang will be held on September 13-15, 2019. Furthermore, mountain bikers can already look forward to additional events that are in the pipeline.

Bikepark Leogang saw plenty of visitors outside of events as well and the increase of 15% in total rides in 2018 set a new record. Europe’s largest beginner area, the Riders Playground, also saw a large increase in use, which is promising great things to come from the next generation of riders. Over the last months the shapers of Bikepark Leogang have also been busy expanding the bikepark. Riders can look forward to an additional gondola as well as several new trails and further new projects in 2019. Details on the expansion of Bikepark Leogang will be announced in Spring, but one thing is already clear now: the 2019 season in Saalfelden Leogang will be a true celebration of mountain biking.
